Celebrities cuddle up with ocean creatures to stop over-fishing
There is probably no stronger marketing campaign than clothes-less celebrities promoting anything. It’s something we’ve gotten used to seeing with the various PETA campaigns, but usually not with fish.
Fishlove is a photographic project that invites “well-known personalities” (read: the famous) around the world to make a stand against over-fishing. The campaign highlights Ocean2012, a coalition dedicated to ensuring that the 2012 reform of the EU Common Fisheries Policy stops over-fishing and the erosion of healthy fish stock.
Here’s a video that highlights their mission:
Fishlove was started in 2009 by Nicholas Röhl, co-owner of Brighton’s Japanese restaurant, MOSHIMO, and the actress Greta Scacchi.
You have to admit, these campaigns do get our attention. Now, let’s hope it also catalyzes action for the cause.
